VI Peel Pre and Post-Care

VI Peel Pre-Care

The VI Peel is a medical-grade chemical peel that improves skin tone, texture, fine lines, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation. Proper pre-care ensures minimal irritation, faster healing, and the best possible results.

 1-2 Weeks Before Treatment

Avoid Sun Exposure & Tanning – Sunburned or tanned skin cannot be treated. Use SPF 30+ daily and   avoid tanning beds.

Discontinue Retinol & Exfoliating Products – Stop using Retin-A, glycolic acid, AHAs/BHAs, and scrubs   for at least 7 days before treatment.

Stay Hydrated & Moisturize Daily – Ensures a smoother peeling process and faster healing.

Avoid Blood-Thinning Medications & Supplements (If Approved by Your Doctor) – To reduce bruising,   avoid:

• Aspirin, Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin)

• Naproxen (Aleve)

• Fish oil, Omega-3, Vitamin E

• Ginkgo biloba, Turmeric, Green Tea Extract

Consult with Dr. Gary – If you have a history of cold sores, let us know in advance, as you may need   antiviral medication before your peel.

 Avoid:

Chemical Peels, Laser Treatments, or Waxing in the Treatment Area – Stop all aggressive skin treatments   for at least 2 weeks before your VI Peel.

Tanning Beds & Spray Tans – Avoid artificial tanning products before treatment.

 3-5 Days Before Treatment

Continue Hydrating & Moisturizing – Helps reduce post-peel dryness and irritation.

Avoid Alcohol & Caffeine – These can dehydrate the skin and delay healing.

 Avoid:

Hair Removal Treatments (Waxing, Threading, or Depilatory Creams) – Can cause skin sensitivity and   irritation before the peel.

 24 Hours Before Treatment

Drink Plenty of Water – Ensures your skin is hydrated and primed for the peel.

Arrive with Clean, Product-Free Skin – No makeup, sunscreen, or moisturizers on the treatment area.

Wear Loose, Comfortable Clothing – If treating body areas, avoid tight clothing that may rub against the   skin.

 Avoid:

Excessive Sun Exposure – If skin is sunburned or irritated, your appointment may need to be rescheduled.

Heavy Alcohol or Salty Foods – Can contribute to inflammation and dehydration.

 Day of Treatment

Arrive Well-Hydrated – Drink at least 2 glasses of water before your appointment.

Discuss Any Skin Concerns or Medical Conditions – Inform us if you have any allergies, sensitivities, or   recent treatments.

Applying Skincare Products Before Your Appointment – Skin must be clean and free of irritants.

VI Peel Post-Care Protocol

The VI Peel is a medical-grade, medium-depth chemical peel that helps improve skin tone, texture, acne scars, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation. Proper post-care is essential to maximize results and minimize irritation.

 First 24 Hours (Day 1)

Leave the Peel on for at Least 4 Hours – Do not wash your face immediately after treatment.

Mild Tingling, Redness & Tightness is Normal – This is part of the initial skin response.

Hydration Only – If needed, apply the Post-Peel Towelettes provided in your aftercare kit.

Avoid Sun Exposure – Stay indoors as much as possible and avoid direct UV exposure.

 Avoid:

Makeup, Skincare, or SPF – Do not apply any products during the first 4 hours.

Sweating, Hot Showers, or Steam – No gym, saunas, or excessive heat.

Touching or Picking the Skin – This can lead to irritation and scarring.

 Days 2-3: Peeling Phase Begins

Gentle Cleansing – Wash your face with a mild, sulfate-free cleanser using lukewarm water.

Use Post-Peel Towelettes – Start applying 1 towelette before bed for enhanced exfoliation.

Skin Will Start Peeling – Usually around the mouth and chin first, then spreading to other areas.

Moisturize & Protect – Use provided post-peel cream and SPF 30+ daily.

 Avoid:

Picking or Peeling the Skin – Let it shed naturally to prevent scarring.

Exfoliants, Retinol, or Active Skincare Ingredients – Avoid for at least 7 days.

Sweating & Intense Workouts – Avoid heavy perspiration to prevent irritation.

Days 4-7: Increased Peeling & Skin Renewal

Continue Gentle Skincare – Use hydrating cleansers and lightweight moisturizers.

Peeling Will Intensify Then Slow Down – Expect flaking, patchy peeling, and skin sensitivity.

Strict Sun Protection – Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily and wear a hat when outdoors.

 Avoid:

Harsh Scrubs or Manual Exfoliation – Let dead skin shed naturally.

Prolonged Sun Exposure – Sunburn risk is high; UV protection is crucial.

Week 2+ – Full Skin Renewal & Glow

Gradually Reintroduce Skincare Actives – Start using Vitamin C, Retinol, and gentle exfoliants as tolerated.

Continue Hydration & Barrier Repair – Use hydrating serums and moisturizers to maintain results.

Book Follow-Up Peels – For optimal skin improvement, VI Peels are recommended in a series of 3-6   treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
